Please recommend a surge protector for HDTV...

What would you recommend for a HDTV/Blu-Ray/Receiver combo?

I am looking for something with a little proven reliabilty if possible, $50 or less. It does not need to be a UPS.

I took one apart to see why it survived when another more expensive brand did not. I was pleasantly surprised that such a low cost product was so well designed inside. They really did a good job at covering all the options, from MOV protection to capacitors and chokes. It is very well done. Covering all three wires properly and they even shielded each section from arcing with mica. Rarely see that in these low cost designs.

I use an APC UPS (if you go the UPS direction, make sure it outputs a true sine wave and not a square wave. A square wave can damage audio equipment). The good thing about them is that they put their money where there mouth is with a lifetime warranty and real cash behind any gear that get damaged on it (in my case, the ones I own have a $100,000 backing).

lulz, those warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Anything well built, don't throw one penny away on "power conditioning", and don't buy Monster...and you'll be happy.
