Please Recommend a Socket 370 Motherboard with Tulatin Support!

I may be looking to buy a new Socket 370 motherboard

I want it CHEAP and have the ability to Overclock

I was thinking about ECS P6S5AT which is $44 on pricewatch.
but I don't know it you can overclock this at all........anyone knows?

Also what are some decent Socket370 MB that support Tulatin?

cheap is i dunno... asus tusl2-c is the best ($100), others are asus tuv4x($90), abit st6-raid($100), and gigabyte ga-6vtx ($77 free shipping) <~~~~~ i think this mobo o/cs

I'm using an MSI 694T.

The board works fine with my Tualatin 1.2 but I haven't been able to OC it yet.

It appears the BIOS has some bugs related to applying FSB speeds greater than 133 mhz.

Price was about $75 at CDRExpress.

Finally Someone with a Tulatin 370 Motherboard

Kenny, did you consider MSI's 6337LE5 -i815ept also before you buy

I notice the price difference isn't that huge from your MSI 694T.

But overall, you do recommended MSI 694T right?

I have narrow down my search to just thse motherboard

1. Abit VH6T $75
2. Gigabyte 6OXT (815) $84
3. Gigabyte 6VTX (via 694T) $74
3. MSI 6337LE5 (815) $75
4. MSI 694T (via 694T)

5. ECS P6S5AT (SIS630) $43

If I can verify that ECS can be overclock, I'll buy it right now - it is incredibly cheap

Does anyone know about this board

I have the ECS P6S5AT and for the money it is a pretty solid board. The DDR ram support is kind of nice. Unfortunately, there are no overclocking features, but with the $50 you save you can always buy a faster CPU.

too bad about the lack of overclock feature in ECS, what a great buy through :(

My goal was to get a Tulatin Motherboard then get the Celeron 1.2G Tulatin and overclock that sucker to 1.6G

It might be cheaper just move on to AMD, but I have fond memory of my Celerons

Intel CPU, Intel chipset. Can't go wrong. Of the ones you listed, go with the MSI 6337LE5 (815) $75

It is a real shame that the 'entire hardware enthusiast site' seem to dismiss Socket 370 motherboard review

I have to really hunt around just to find any Tulatin socket 370 review.....how about it Anand?

If you decide to buy the P6S5AT -- I have a brand new one here for sale.

I bought it off an auction, but it took so long to get here I bought another one in the meantime. It's unopened and still in it's original state. I can include a copy of the invoice (dated: Nov 12, 2001) for warranty purposes.

Most ECS motherboards have no or little overclocking. AkumaX mentioned the Abit ST6-RAID. http://www.hardoverclock.net/ (if you're into translating from German) has info on using this board and a Tualitin CPU. They were able to get a 1.26GHz 512KB cache chip to POST at over 1.6GHz, and run at around 1.5GHz. This Abit board uses the Intel 815EP chipset, which is supposedly a good performer. I think Mwave has it for $106, and the Abit VH6-T (VIA chipset, similar support of FC-PGA2) for $76.

I check the overclocker's database

It seem like alot of people are using Abit ST6 (no raid)

However the ABIT website doesn't list such a product exist

only ST6-Raid????????????????

I like the TUSL2-C... i've used about 6 of them, they're fast and stable.. great mobo! :)

TUSL2 is same, 'cept a few less frills.

I thought I heard from AkumaX that TUSL2 doesn't overclock right?

I've also heard that Shuttle don't Overclock well.

Anyone has any experience with Gigabyte??? and more MSI

I also plan on acquiring a Celeron 1.2 GHz and motherboard. The CPU and mobo are for my wife's computer.

Where can one purchase the MSI 6337LE5 (815) for $75? Is the vendor reliable? I've found a source for a retail boxed 1.2 Celeron CPU. All I need now is the board.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hold off a bit before you get that Cel 1.2. In January, the new Celeron 1.0a and 1.1a will be available. These are like the Celeron 1.2 chips. Tualatin, 256k cache, 100 MHz FSB. The C1.2's are very had to run 133 FSB, 1.6 GHz. The 1.1 @ 133 FSB, 1463 MHz should be very easy.

I like the idea of Cel 1 GHz and 1.1 GHz. I'm an overclocker from the 486SX days. Will definitely take a good look at those when they come out. Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have known as I don't keep up with new CPUs as much as a few years back.

Plan on building this little setup around the 2nd week in January. My wife is a mainstream user. However, she won't know if I'm overclocking it or not.

Now to find a source for the board.

Overclocker from 486SX days, now that is OLD :)

I still have my Intel DX2-66 on 40mhz bus at Dx2-80mhz

Not exactly a screamer anymore, but I was a real DOOM Killer

Has anyone tried the Abit VH6T? or MSI 694T? or Gigabyte???

It is amazing someone was able to get Celeron 1.2 to 1.7 on a MB that has no Voltage Tweak
or perhaps there is a hidden BIO somewhere

Wish someone knows about this, because at $44 for ECS P6S5AT, it would be a steal
