Seen/watching:

BSG.. 4.5/5

Firefly.. 5/5

Lost.. 5/5

V ( new ) .. 3.5/5

Tried watching:
- Farscape S1 but couldn't get into it, perhaps later on it gets better/more modern?

I might try Stargate SG-1, the only reason I would want to watch it is for Morena Baccarin.

Considering:
- Babylon 5

Here's what you get for viewing the thread:

Morena is in the new V series. Though with short hair, she loses a bit of my fanfare. But bonus to make up for it is the HOT blond alien.

So far only 4 episodes, they aired 4 episodes in November and will return in March for the rest of the season.

I watched those but I'm only really trying to get recommendations on shows that have spanned at least a season.

B5 Definitely. Season 5 is a bit of a letdown though.

As far as Farscape goes, it does get much better. Season 1 was kinda slow and really just set up the universe. It gets good once Scorpius gets on scene later in the first season.

Doctor Who

Trying to go through Doctor Who is like trying to calculate an exact value for Pi. You will want to kill yourself at some point. :p

Don't get me wrong, I love Dr. Who, but you really do need a plan on what parts are worth watching because of how long it has been ongoing.

Doctor Who (2005-present) is awesome if you can handle the occasional "cheesiness" of the series (well, it's more than occasional...well, it's really a key aspect of the series...well, okay, every scene is pretty much pure cheese). I can, and love the show.

Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis were pretty bad ass. 15 seasons should keep you pretty occupied :)

I also recently just got the entire seasons of:

Star Trek The Next Generation
Star Trek Deep Space Nine
Star Trek Voyager

Ill be busy watching that till 2012, by then the world will end and all will be good.

V
Lost

I'm working on getting BSG or the new cancelled star trek eps.

I've heard Stargate SG-1 recommended over and over again for sci-fi geeks like me.

Obligatory ST:TNG, DS9. Just cause you didn't mention having seen them. SG1 definitely worth watching though it's not in my top 5. I really loved Farscape but it's something of an acquired taste, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer which, though not Sci-Fi, I recommend as well.

Stargate SG-1 is a decent deal too - the whole series on DVD, widescreen no less, over 9000 minutes of show, for around $100 on Amazon.
(Incidentally, the first episode is as it was apparently aired on HBO - uncensored. ;);))

I'll probably get Stargate: Atlantis too, once the price comes down a bit.

If you have never watched TNG watch it first just for historical reasons. Otherwise I recommend watching DS9 first as I feel it to be the best series.

Farscape is terrible until about halfway through the first season.. it gets amazing in season 2+. Deep Space Nine is the best show that has ever been made. however, you must start after season 1. 2-3 are decent and 4 is when it blasts out of this world. Starting with the first episode of season 4 is how I got my now wife into Sci fi.

TNG season 4+ is also very good.

The 4400 is also decent.

SG-1 is garbage. B5 is garbage. Corny is not for me.

Lost also is very very bad. The show never has a direction and becomes preposterous and absolutely aimless/plotless after season 2.

Atlantis had it's moments but definitely wasn't as good IMHO. List SG1 they ran out of steam in the last season or so.

I agree on most points the but I'd still watch seasons 1-3 of DS9 just for the character development as much as anything. It's also by far my fav Sci-Fi series. I don't agree that B5 is garbage though. It had some painfully bad acting and writing in many episodes but the overall story arc through the first 4 seasons is well worth watching IMO. I also found SG1 to be strangely watchable (saw every episode) without being very good at any point along the way, sort of like Buffy.

If you're willing to watch an older series, I also highly recommend Quantum Leap.

B5 is epic.

If you liked BSG II, you'd probably like Space: Above and Beyond even though it ended abruptly.
