I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to this.
Summary - Want a Wireless G router that won't drop connections and where DHCP works.
I've had both a D-Link and Linksys WRT54G Wireless router over the past 3 years. I continually have problems with dropped connections, duplicate IP addresses from the DHCP server and a general lack of reliability.
For example, last night, I'm downloading a 175 MB file and it continually freezes, I started a ping on my router during download and sure enough, 2 minutes into it, the ping fails to my router for about 10 seconds and the download hangs. Remote connections to our upstairs PC cycle constantly.
I only need to connect 7 devices. I'm not as concerned about speed (I'm using a cable modem, so the pipe in isn't that big) as I am about reliability and range (if supports WDS, I have a range extender). I use it a lot for work, so most files are under 100 MB, though I download TV show torrents pretty regularly.
I really appreciate any help.
