Currently I have the buggy evga nf4 sli motherboard, tons of random crash drive me crazy. please recommend a decent motherboard, thanks !!
socket 939, pci E x16, no other requirements, budget less than $150.

btw is there any motherboard without fan? the samll fan on most motherboards seems quite loud.

Well, I am not 100% sure, but ppl at evga forum have similar problem as mine, my other parts are all highly rated by members here which are less likely to be the problem. I got the motherboad as the bundle from evga. I wish I had avoided this rebadged jetway( I am surprised anandtech give it a nice review )


The motherboad is buggy from the beginning , EVGA seems to know the problem and updated bios several times, which failed to solve most problems. And after 2/03/06, no bios update, I finally lost hope in this motherboard.
 
ASUS all the way. dfi's give user's 50% pleasure, 50% pain (and lots of it)
i can only recommend you look into asus motherboards, something like the a8n-e, a8n-sli premium
 
I really like my DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 Ultra D, great board, havent had any problems with it, and its extremely tweakable
 
Asus is okay but MSI is the best in my book. I've had problems with every motherboard brand I've ever owned EXCEPT MSI. Customer service should be considered also. Asus service isn't the best . . Intel's is the worst but I doubt anyone on this forum would intentionally buy an Intel board anyway. I hear good things about DFI (first negative thing was right here in this thread).

Take a gander at MSI before you make your final decision.

You MUST work for MSI. They are considered one of, if not THE, worst mobo makers in the world! Most of my after hours consulting has either been replacing/repairing either Dell systems or MSI mobos.
 
Your best bet by far would be the ASUS A8N-SLi Premium. I love my DFI mobo, but I have to admit the chipset fan is the loudest component in my computer.
 
I'm running a gigabyte k8n. pretty good, just need to change the cooling solution on the nf4 or buy the board that already has the fan on it. the DFIs and the ASUS get alot of good talk.

why do people insist on buying new hardware if you already bought that one you have warranty for a reason RMA it.....

Asus only: DDR1 on 939- most expensive of it's kind on newegg
Asus only: DDR2 on 939- most expensive of it's kind on newegg

both will cost you generally a couple hundred bucks

I'd say if you're spending that much money on something, you might as well get the very best stuff

p.s. i'd rather get ultra low latency DDR400, so stick with DDR1, it will prove so slick-worthy

ddr2 on 939.....that would be interesting

also, you recommend asus but use foxconn, why?
 
I have been happy with my fanless Tyan K8E. I'm not a gamer/overclocker, but I do graphic design and photography and I hammer the piss out of a system doing memory/CPU intensive tasks. The Tyan is very solid?it just stays out of the way and lets me get my work done.

It's $169 at Monarch
 
My current ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 is fanless. Wish it had a chipset fan cuz the HSs are really long and I barely got my HD cage to slide into my Lian-li case. But, it is a good stable board. Only issue is that I am stuck using 82.12 forceware drivers because the mobo uses ULI for it chipset. But before that I was using an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe and before that I was using a Gigabyte Titan 845. All were stable boards.
 
I have an ASUS A8N-E (don't need or want SLI). I have not had any problems. It is a solid performer.

I have had two motherboards from MSI. They were both unstable.

Huh? MSI is far from the worst. In fact the Neo2 Platinum was probably the best NF3 board made. It all depends on the particular board, not so much just the manufacturer. Asus has a rep of being very stable, but they have also produced some really bad boards.

DDR2 on 939 is not all that exciting compared to a DDR1 system in price/performance ratio. I personally wouldn't recommend DDR2 for AMD systems unless you already had DDR2 sticks in the first place, anyway.

Foxconn is good. Asus is good. It's as simple as that. You want a Foxconn, I don't care. But Asus puts more juice into their more expensive boards.
