Please recommend a download maganger!!!

Stuck overseas with sloooooooooow connection and this has giving me troubles downloading files. Can anybody recommend a good file dowloading program. I know many also may have dialup tools that may aid in speeding the connection so I welcome if any also have that feature. After a search seems like there's many options, so I thought I'd ask the experts for the best advice.
