Please recommend a DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card.

Hello to All,
My son & I are having trouble playing BF1942 and I have narrowed it down to our on-board sound, both boards have Advance 97 sound. I tried upgrading the drivers and turning the sound all the way down and we still have trouble.

I'm looking to upgrade my pc with a sound card, but would like to use an older card in my sons, or at least a good inexpensive card. We don't listen to music or watch movies on our computers we mostly play games.

Your recommendation is most appreciated.

Try a Hercules Fortissimo 7.1 soundcard, it's compatible with almost every audio format except EAX 3.0 (in most games you can turn this off if it gets staticy). It's cheap too... Plus it has a 20-Bit processor so it might not slow down as long.
