Please reccommend a SMALL case for me!

Hi guys...I have had case after ase and they're all Enlight beige, tall, with 3.5 slots etc... I just recently bought a new mobo and still really hate my case..especially since my dell monitor is all black along with my mouse etc..

Please reccommend some smaller cases to me.. preferablly without any 3.5 bays and maybe even just one drive bay..

I realy like THIS case but I would have it buy a new mobo also..which im not opposed to, but I also dont need to take it wiht me places, its just nice and small....if you can suggest something..doesnt have to be a cube, it was just an idea... i dont plan on OC'ing and would only have, for peripherals a graphics card, network card and sound card....(unless i use onboard) but the graphics card is big too..

Thanks!!!

Well, most small cases require a mATX mobo - too bad you didn't think of that when buying your mobo. You can get something like the Lian Li A05 but I hate doing things just because they can be done and not for any valid technical reason. This case case is about the smallest that will fit a full ATX mobo, but it has significant drawbacks such as no cooling on the hard drive. Xoxide has this: http://www.xoxide.com/chenming-301-silver.html compact aluminum -that is basically the same as the original Antec LanBoy but has 120mm rear fan instead of the pictured 80mm mount. A lot of case for the money but also has no cooling on the HDDs.
. Several companies have cube cases (the one you linked is basically the same chassis as the Ultra MicroFly and the Apevia X-qPack 2), NZXT has the Rogue and Aerocool has one (can't remember the model name - maybe the K40 or something nondescript like that). But all of those are mATX cases. Do your homework so you don't end up with something that really doesn't suit your needs. And I'll throw this in as it is a decent case for the money: the mostly aluminum Cooler Master Mystique 631. SVC.com has the black with window version at about $75. off the original selling price.

Nothing wrong with a 3.5" external bay - where would you put your flash card reader, etc. without one?

Thanks Zepper! Yeah about the drive bay, my monitor has a multi-card reader on it so I just use that...I guess i wouldn't mind getting another mobo to fit a smaller case... any reccomendations!

Thanks!

I use an ASRock AliveNF6G-VSTA with an AMD Athlon 64 AM2 single core CPU - works great for me, but you may want more.

You may also look int HTPC cases. Some of those are smaller than standard cases and will accept ATX boards. They tend to be in a desktop type of configuration with the board level thou and that may not interest you.

It should fit the longest video card but the 80/90mm cooling would be a drawback. For that type of case, I like this one best: http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=CA-3505B

Here's the mfr's product page for a more thorough description and pix:
http://www.evercase.com/2product/e3505.htm

And another place that stocks it:
http://www.kingli.com/_upgrade...ure.EVERCASE.E3505B-53 . Shipping costs at eWiz/NewBiz used to be high, so even though this starts out higher it may come out better at the bottom line. From memory, this one has a 120mm front fan mount as well, but you may want to contact Evercase or one of the resellers to be sure.

Zepper..thank you for that information..i looked at the casees and they are mostly discontinued or come wiht 3.5 bays etc.. i would love one that has only a coupel bays total and no 3.5 bays...also would be solid black or close to it..i know im asking for a lot..but...

About all else I see is the Lian Li Cube, but those cost about $120. +sh... Or maybe the Silverstone SST-TJ08-B starts at $90. from reliable resellers. There are also the SG03 and SG04, but those are all aluminum and from $120. up...

UPDATE: Ok guys, what do you think about This Case I really like it...BUT do you think a lan box isnt practical since I just want it for a small pc case for looks and form factor. Im not actually going to take it anywhere... but damn it still looks nice.. how about it?

Thanks

What if (and im just syaing) I am not planning on any OC'ing on that one? The Ultra MicroFly/Apevia X-Qpack looks nice but I cant find it in just the box...

TigerDirect usually has at least one version in PSU-free - OMG is the MicroFly gone? I don't see any sign of it on the TD Web site... There is one black one on fleaBay right now with a pretty low bid and 9 hours to go - it has no PSU.

I found one place that still seems to have some in stock - it's called SuperDuperClub (Yeah, I know... 😉 at the price of $66. +sh no PSU. At least it added to my cart - but wise to verify before sending any money as the case seems to be discontinued at least by Ultra. Chenming makes it for the various brands and they used to sell the same model under their own brand (at least the orignial, shorter version like the original Qpack)

When I looked at OD, I couldn't put either color in my cart - said "not available at your location". I had an Athenatech A100 (I think still available at the Egg) which had dual 60s for exhaust and I found it to be inadequate for an Abit mobo with a (not OCd) Sempron processor. What's wrong with Canada - I've bought stuff from there and I always got my stuff if it did take a while? It's still cheaper than the best other "before shipping" price I've found - unless the bid gets ridiculous. Unless you can snipe, it's probably not worth your time to place a bid as it will likely get sniped out from under you, but there's always a chance...

Look at the message I posted just before yours as I've added to it. And also check out the Aerocool M40 (the egg has this one but others have it for less) and the NZXT Rogue. There are a couple of other places you can check like iOffer and Google Base. Look at the pix of the silver version (if available) so the details can be seen better.

Zepper...the case is cool..but i was hoping for something more black..i dont need the led display on front since i wotn OC, but for cooling purposes if the thermaltake would work for someonejust using stock speeds etc, then great... itss not bad, I just think I like the thermaltake more.. ill look at the club now...the AeroCool M40-BK is cool...hmm... not bad either

I added more to my last previous message as well. I often edit and extend my messages many times before I'm done. If you don't need the display, you can leave it unplugged. But the one on the M40 does give you an indication that your main fan is working.

Zepper..Im looking, question though, if I cant find it or another one... Im still wondering about my initial asking of the thermaltake? how will it stand wiht mo OC? Also the AeroCool M40 isnt bad either.... how will both stand? Then ill have a decision. I heard that some moding may be needed if you have a two slot card which my 8800gts is...oh wlel, no problem..

Ok, I have to purchase one today...but which 🙂 I like the Aerocool for space, but ive seen otehr pics that show it as a dull grey and not black..the thermaltake is defientely black and has a nicer appearance..

feedback? Thanks!

I'm not fond of the TT having the PSU over the CPU. The cooling in a small box is very important, I'll grant you I'm a fanatic about temps, (load on my quad is under 40c) but if you find the temps to be high in that TT you have very few options, with the aero you have upgrade options. Another goodie I noticed on the TT is the fact the PSU aligns back to back with the optical drives, this could give you a bad time if one or the other is longer than average and cabling grief. I like the appearance of the TT better, I like the gloss black, just look at my cases in the gallery:laugh: all gloss black unless their wood.
Someone mentioned Lian Li, they make a real nice box, the one with the ability to mount the disk drives on either side.

WoodButcher... you mean this Lian Li? Haha i saw that today at Newegg...it does look very promising...ok, so now between the Aerocool and the Lian Li? HAHA....I have to look at the Lian Li closer since I just saw it today....but not bad looking...
