• We should now be fully online following an overnight outage. Apologies for any inconvenience, we do not expect there to be any further issues.

Please read SHUX's post about a script. I got an intruder.

thanks Mr. Funkawitz, now tell me how good of a deterrent will that be? It didn't work well with you as you're still wasting time in front of your computer.

I'd help ya if I could, but I don't know a single thing about web hosting. :(

My guess would be to make sure you have the latest updates/security fixes, and run a *nix server. Win servers are bad news. Thats all I know. All my hosting is done remote. I let someone else go through the headaches.

Can a firewall be set up on your server? I would think that with a good firewall router, and limited access to ports, that any attacks would be minimal if any.

Thanks Monel, sorry for being a little short last night. It was very late(or early) and I was very tired and pissed off about the whole thing.

Yes you're right about patches and fixes, that's one that sliped by me. Regarding firewalls I still want to know if there was anything they could have done as I have both a router and a software firewall.

I've applied the patch, now I'm just wondering what's left in there that could still do some damage.

The lucky part is that it could have reformated my HD and it didn't. Thankfully it looks like it was just a prank. Or so I hope.

one of the better solutions is to have a hardware firewall... likemy speedstream 5660
