General Info --

Over the course of the next two weeks, Core and Edge will be removed from Mika's work and moved to his home:

Next Wednesday, Jan 23 @ 7:00 p.m. EST (technically Jan 24 @ 00:00 UTC), Core will be removed from service. At the same time, my pproxy will be promoted to TA Keymaster, and take over Core's functions. A complete DNS change over to my IP will occur within one hour of this process.

PPSTATS (RC5 & OGR) may be paused up to an hour while the change over occurs, at which point they will resume nearly the same. For the next few days, any problems will be fixed up. The following week, Edge will be shutdown, and moved to it's new location. DNS will be immediately updated and from that point on, the process/move is complete.

For most of you, you won't even notice this change over (Round Robin aka proxy.teamanandtech.com users). For users that have hard coded Core's or Edge's IP address, please read the following!

Thank you for your time!
Brad..

Technical Details --

The hostnames of: core.teamanandtech.com, keymaster.teamanandtech.com, and keyserver.teamanandtech.com will be switched to my IP when Core is shutdown. Anyone who has hard coded the IP address of Core (207.209.128.157), needs to switch as soon as possible. Please use either the hostname core.teamanandtech.com or IP 166.70.74.93.

Mika and I realize there are going to be remote clients that are pointed at the old IP address, but we hope everyone is able to switch over. We wish this didn't have to occur, except it's time for the boxes to move to a new home.

The hostnames of: mika.dhs.org and teamanandtech.dhs.org will be pointed at Edge's new IP address. A few of you still have clients pointing at mika.dhs.org, and to your relief, we will continue to provide pproxy services on that machine. Please note that if you do find a box using that hostname, please update to proxy.teamanandtech.com. This link to instructions, can tell you how to do that.

[Mods, could you please make this thread a sticky at the top (for about two weeks)? Thanks!]

I'd just like to use this message to give Mika, Bphantom, JHutch and the others thanks for everything they've done up to this point.:D Obviously Mika deserves plenty of thanks for getting the boxes hosted and doing so much work on the site(the design, the membership feature, ect); however Bphantom deserves some thanks, as he's the best network admin you can get your hands on(Many a time has he fixed DNS entries, set up the RR, ect); and then poor JHutch, who last I've heard went insane, deserves thanks for all the work he's done with the FAQ's, which would be much more bland without his hand.:) Thanks for everything guys, you all rock.:D

BIG thanks to Mika and all the guys that keep the TeamAnandtech infrastructure ticking smoothly along. :):):):)

Now if this was our IT guys at work they'd just pull the plug and not even tell the helpdesk guys they were doing it, let alone the end users. Amatuers.

A big moohoo goes out to both BPhantom and Mika, who managed to sucessfully reroute one of the world's largest Dnet proxies this afternoon. The AuxCore is now taking care of shuffling around most of TA's blocks(outside of a problem with Clueless's proxy), and the Core is en-route to Mika's home.:) Thanks guys for working so hard to get this done smoothly.:D

The switch went very smoothly yesterday evening. Core is still functioning, but only on a limited scale until it is powered down in the next few days. Until that time, Core has a temporary pproxy running which will let Mika and I know who might have hard coded the IP address. I have already sent out a few email notifying some of those users.

Thanks once again for everyones support and kind words. :) I want to thank Mika and his employer for allowing us to use their bandwidth and power resources for almost three years now. It has greatly allowed us to provide Team AnandTech with the best redundant D.Net pproxy setup and STATS! for the team! :) Thank you Mika! You da man! ;)

Sincere thanks go out to Mika, bphantom, JHutch, and all the others out there who have worked so hard maintaining the round-robin proxies and the keymaster for TA. What an incredible effort from an incredible group of folks! :D
