you need to determine what kind of clock generator is on his mainboard. you can open up the case and look around inside or get a program like Sandra 2001 that will be able to identify the mobo and tell you about the clock gen, then you can simply manually set SoftFSB to the correct setting. HOWEVER i dont think you will be able to get anything out of it though seeing as the system in question is a prebuilt dell and thus uses standard non-tweakable motherboards. i maybe wrong but i wouldnt hope for too much. on a positive note you might want to look into wpcredit another tweak utility for the bx chipset. you can find it at H. Oda's
web site. let us know what happens.
good luck.
matt.

Hi Pandaflux

Since you seem to know a little about SoftFSB, do you know the step to obtain the information that you refer too in Sandra, 'cause I dont... I've look under the tag "CPU/BIOS" but I cant figure out what to look at to find out what to put in the SoftFSB prog.

😱

Hello HansVonLuck,

In Sandra look under "Mainboard Information" then about 1/3 of the way down find the field labeled "System Clock Generator" under that field is listed the name of your clock generator (eg. IC-Works W124 ala my Abit BH6).

yea...it doesnt matter what software you use, Dell PCs use intel mobo's and chipsets. they are pretty much untweakable. there is a jumper on the board that allows the system to boot into "maitenance mode." that is the only way to change the FSB, and even then there are no OCing options.

Thanks Pandaflux... but 🙁
The Clock generator of the CUV4X Board is note listed in the library of the SoftFSB.
It's the ICS 9248-98 and, since Mr. Oda has stop maintaining his site... well everything is srcew for me, or I have to go in the Bios... and my Dip switch...

Thanks again Pandaflux

AHH my friend HansVonLuck! You are in luck! i did a little searching and i found a software FSB program that supports not only your clock generator but also your mobo. It is called CPUFSB and is produced by Podien.
The appropriate link is supplied.
enjoy

P.S. i have no experience with this program and would appreciate your feedback and a recap of you overclocking exploits.

thanks
matthew

Many Thanks Pandaflux...
Wow, what a Prog you've sent me her... I'll let you know of the result...
In case I dont write back soon, then you'll know I'm out for a new CPU 😉
