PLEASE READ!! I OC my TBird 750 and it posts at 700mhz, is it mulitplier locked or what??

I just set up my TBird 750 and Abit KT7 mb and had some questions:

1) I tried to unlock the chip by connecting the L1 bridges with an HB .5mm pencil. It posts fine at default, but when I increase the multiplier in the BIOS it posts at 700(7x100) mhz at the bootup screen. Whadup wit dat?? Why would it underclock itself?? Did I not connect the bridges correctly?? If I didn't it's no big deal, I'm not removing the heat sink to try again. 750mhz is plenty fast for me...

2) I installed MBM 4.18 and the temperature reads at a constant 32F. Is it not compatible with the temp monitor on this mb?? Anyone had any luck getting it to work? The VIA HWM reads 84F CPU and 74F system. I like to use MBM4 so I can see the temps in the system tray though.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can answer you second question, MBM works for me, you want Via 686A set I think for the sensors

OK, I figured out the MBM 4.18 thing. If anyone is having problems go to the General-System tab and manually select the sensors, i.e. Via6886a-1, etc... MBM detected my chip, but didn't set up the sensors for some reason.

check the markings...did any overlap? did any stray lead (dust...) go onto any other golden bridges? Check the pins on the underside of the chip...are any missing? Check the bios...sometimes even the best forget something in there. 😛

On the A7V there is a system settings that had to be on normal for it to overclock our Duron. Its been awhile since tinkering with it. Once I get a system stable the general rule of thumb is "leave it alone".
