When you post a question about your car, please post the following as well to help people make better recommendations and reduce the number of follow-up questions that we have to ask:

About the vehicle:
- Year
- Make
- Model
- Engine (if there are different engines available)
- Trim Level (if you don't know the engine type, this can help us at least narrow it down)
- Modifications (if any)
- Mileage

About the issue:
- When did you first notice it?
- When does it happen? (e.g. only when it's raining, first start of every day, etc)
- Are there noises/smells/etc associated? If so, describe them and where they seem to be coming from.

By giving this information along with your question, we can tailor the response to your car and give you more accurate advice. We all want to be able to help out, but it can be very hard to diagnose a question like "My car makes an odd noise.", whereas something like "My 2006 Mustang GT makes a slight groaning/chattering noise from the rear of the car during low-speed corners." contains enough information for us to know that the 2006 Mustang GT has a limited slip rear differential that is known to make a little noise around low-speed corners and that Ford has a TSB out instructing dealers in how to adjust it.

Hopefully this list will help you get better answers in less time. 🙂

Excellent post, ZV. Mods, please consider a sticky on this, as we get many questions from posters seeking assistance, only to find the content of their OP's to be too vague. Thanks.

How not to ask questions:

"My car is making a noise, what's wrong with it?"
"I accidentally drove by Pep Boys last night after installing a maximum strength crap magnet, how do I get five wings off the hood?"
"What antifreeze should I use in my '71 Beetle?"
"My pickup needs a water pump, should I get a Dodge or a Chevrolet?"

...because for the love of god, you'll make someone's head explode.

Last question makes sense if you can find another pickup for less than the cost of a water pump.
