Hey guys,

Been spending the last few weeks researching and reading reviews for my upcoming i5 build. The system will be used for gaming, web browsing, applications such as Photoshop, movies etc. Overclocking will be moderate, i.e. probably only through the OC Genie feature on the MSI motherboard.

I have decided on the following components and would be happy if you would rate/comment and alert me of any possible incompatibilities :)

i5-750 Processor

MSI-P55-GD65 Motherboard

CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...es)-_-20145262)

XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB (+ old Seagate 160GB)

Corsair HX520W PSU

Not a bad PS at all, I like Corsair, but I would consider going a bit higher. In case you want to add another video card or something...

Yeah, I did consider a variety of different PSUs and had a topic on here about it. I decided to go for the HX520 because of good reviews and the fact that it's unlikely my system will exceed 300W (according to a calculator and experience of others). Also, I am most likely not going to go for Crossfire but will keep the system as it is for a long time, so 520W seemed sufficient.

Are you using a current case, dvd drive, etc?

Current Antec case, case fan, drives etc.

Am planning to build a quiet system this time as well, so might replace the cooler that comes with the i5. The PSU should be very quiet and so should the 5850 :)

Yah, that PSU is very quiet.

What size monitor do you have?

As for a cooler, I'd suggest the CM Hyper 212+, unless you change your mind and feel like breaking OC'ing records.

If you have money burning a hole through your pocket, I'd suggest an Intel X25-M SSD (or a Kingston rebranded version).

I have the Samsung Syncmaster T220 @ 1680x1050.

I'll check out the cooler thanks. SSD isn't in the budget this time unfortunately. I was looking to get a 1.5 TB disk or more but the F3 impressed in the reviews, so I am settling for the 1 TB.
