Ok, since alot of people ask questions concerning the type of setting of network to use at home, I want to create this thread to get as much opinions and comments on the matter as possible.
Which type of connection below offers the best in speed and bandwidth?This is only with 2 computers. (Keep in mind the cost of each typing of setting)
a) 1 ip address
use a router to connect both computers.
-Bad, can't play game on the internet simultaneously. You can play each other
with your LAN, but can't connect both computers for internet (direct play)
game like on www.zone.com or battlenet.
-Good, get firewall and separate yourself from your ISP? Very secure.
b) 2 ip addresses (get a second ip address for $5/month)
use a hub to connect both computers.
-You can play games simultaneously on the internet (direct play).(Is this true?)
-It is cheaper to get a hub than a router, but you have firewall

c) get two cable connection ($42/month for each computer)
-With this setting, you don't lose bandwidth and have the faster speed than
the other two. (Can someone comment on this. I am not sure myself)
