My pastor's oldest son, Kori has been struggling with cancer for the past year. We've had occasional prayer nights when his condition worsened but tonight I heard that he may have a couple of days left. The cancer spread all over his left knee, lungs and bones in the upper torso. I used to hear that he couldn't sleep because of the excruciating pain throughout his body and only could fall asleep while sitting up... in great pain...
I used to be a youth group counselor about 3 years ago when I had him as my student. He was in 9th grade then, and what a bright loving kid he is/was. (I was a college student) We used to talk about the struggles he went through as any teenagers did and how he had to deal with the hidden pressure to live up to certain ways because his dad is a pastor of a 300 member church.
The pastor is also a great guy, he just has that kind, warmth surrounding him everytime I talk to him. Ever since he was appointed to our church 3 years ago (we're United Methodist Church), he brilliantly led the church's direction compared to the previous one.
Please pray for my friend, Kori and his father Pastor Hong, and the rest of his family: a 2 year old baby and a 11 yr old sister.
This is how I look at death, if he is to die, I wouldn't grieve for him because I know he'll be in a better place. But I pray that God may watch over his family and most importantly, the pastor. His faith is strong as a rock and I continue to pray that he will be surrounded by our love and God's.
Please, at least lift up a small prayer for this kind stranger...
I'll be at the church in an hour (7pm) with the youth group, Kori's friends and the adult congregation. I've never had to deal with death from someone this close to me. I want to cry, please pray for him, Pray for a miracle.
If God may take his soul, let us realize that it is because of His love which we fail to see immediately... it will shape us stronger and firm...
