Worked fine for me, though for some reason the first of the four pings was always a bit higher than the other three. One time the first ping even timed out.. Average of about 64ms, max of 117ms.

Slight note here...putting your IP on a public forum is just asking for trouble :)

I give you four hours before you're "r00t3d" by some "1337 s|<r1pT k1dD13" :p

In serious mode now, don't worry about that. Your ISP borked a router somewhere and that'll stop pretty much all traffic except for a few lucky sites that respond before the timeouts kill you. Call service, bug em a bit, act all whiny and say you can't read your E-Mail and get your InterWeb. :D

I thought about that and I'm going to replace a network card as soon as I get home and that will force a change of IP address

They say since I can ping my default gateway everything must be fine. Someone pinged me last night and got 100% packet loos on att systems, but Cox communications doesn't think that is the problem

I swear on both my daughters that this is my IP address. I'm just trying to find out what wrong with my connection, up until 11pm last night everythng was fine now I'm getting 80-100% packet loss. I can't even ping www.cnet.con, www.pcworld.com,www.anandtech.com, to connect I have to try 3-4 times to finally get thru just to post here, I get request timed out and 100% lose

What does your obviously wrong statement about the code quality of Microsoft's products have to do with a known fact? Ping www.microsoft.com. You will get 100% packet loss. Hopefullly you wont get freaked out, ask for a major ping flood, and swear on your daughters' lives that you are telling the truth over something as silly as poor connectivity.

You don't think I actually bothered to read his post, do you? Your remark sounded like Jurassic Park's "I know this! This is Unix!" :p
