isn't it that you should only knock on houses that have their outside light on? at least that's how it worked when i was a kid....

I used to think otherwise but the last few years kids coming home from school are immediately brought out by their parents and ring my bell during the day. At night, there's too much shenanigans going on with teenage gangs with eggs, TP, & shaving cream who have no intention of actually procuring candy. You know who you are. I don't think I got any rings after dark.

Just ask your local police department for one of those "Convicted Sex Offender - No Trick or Treaters Please" signs. Should do the trick.

We ToT'd during the night when I was young. Then everywhere switched to the day because ti was safer. But everyone hated it so many places are changing back.

Where I grew up it's still from like 1-4 in the afternoon. Where I live now, it's from 6-8 at night on Saturday. Can't really scare people much in the middle of the day.

put a bowl of candy out to appease the little demons or you might get "tricked".

Sign on door = eggs on car. :Q

Just keep your outside light off? Where do you live that you get them during the day? That's like having mosquitoes in the winter time!

I did think twice about the sign but really I can't have people ringing the bell every hour.

Put up a sign like -- "Out Trick or Treating, neighbor is handing out the candy for our house."

;)

Seriously though, suck it up and be glad it's only one day/night, eventually your infant will be a toddler and then you can annoy the other fatigued new parents.

People are afraid to let their kids out at night, even with adult supervision. My wife said she's going to have to leave work early today to be home for the younger kids... wtf?

Until oh, I don't know, the third kid comes along and steals the entire thing. :p

Duh.

Everyone knows that a child who comes to the unsupervised free tub of candy is allowed to take it all.

Thats why you just put out an empty bowl at the start of the night with a sign to please take just one piece of candy. The kids assume someone else beat them to it and you either save the cost of the candy or keep it for yourself.

It makes me sad that kids these days trick-or-treat when it's still light outside, and are done by 7pm. It's kind of chilling and depressing when we don't get a knock on our door any later than that. The sheer volume of trick-or-treaters feels like it's 10% of what I remember the streets looking like when I was a kid. Groups of friends running around like little ghouls past 10pm.

the only ones who usually come trick or treating are those with adults who look pretty responsible... not so sure they'd carry eggs and TP with them...

That wont stop them from dropping trow and shitting all over their hands and smearing it on your car windows, now will it?
