I posted messages earlier describing my situation.

When I type setup in DOS it gets to the poit where it says "Copying Files Needed For Windows...." and thats all it does. Seems like it dies. I called up Western Digital and they told me nothing seems to be wrong with my hard drive.

I ran fdisk and formatted my drive. Someone suggested DELPART but thats for removing the primary so that didnt really work. I also tried the Data Lifeguard Tools but I still got the same error. I even tried the fdisk/mbr which didn't work either.

Please give me more suggestions or help me figure out what part isn't working properly if that's the case. Thanks.

all right thats a hang up not an error. If you are getting an error message, what is it? My sugestion would be to totaly clear the drive of all partitions, that includes the one that windows makes when you install it. Unless it stoped doing that, i havnt installed anything higher then 98SE from a dos prompt yet so I cant tell ya. So after that is done I would retry the setup and see what happens. If not, run a full scandisk and see what you get.

Try copying your D:win98 folder to c:win98 in dos. If it doesnt copy its probably your cdrom drive or a bad operating system cd.

I agree. Copy the Win98 directory (the cab files, setup, etc) from the
CD to a directory on your harddrive. Call the directory W98temp.
Then run setup.exe from there...............Greg
PS...if you've got the room, leave the files there after installation.
You'll never have to use the CD again..............
