Okay I just built two new compute's. Mobo's are ecs k7vza with on board sound, which I am using. I have an old computer with on motherboard sound which has two speakers without its own volume control or electricity plug and the speakers
sound great. I took these speakers off and put them on my new computer and the sound is really low, low where you know something is wrong. Next I put on other speakers that have its own volume control and electricity plug. These speakers work great on the new computer.

Actually another thing I must add. I hooked up these speakers(ones w/o volume contol)
to another
computer I had with a Sound Blaster Live Value and same deal very low sound were you know something is wrong.

Is the sound card on my older computer better then the sound card on my new computer and the sound blaster live value or is there something I am doing wrong.

The difference is in the type of outputs. It sounds like the original Mobo sound has an amplified "speaker" output, while most current soundcards only put out a line level output. As the older speakers have no amplifier, they need a powered output. That's what the power connection in the speaker system is for-- powering an amplifier.

It's not a question of the old mobo soundcard being better. It's just different, sort of like apples and oranges, as the SBLive and other current cards aren't designed to deliver power to a speaker system now.

I hope this helps. Email me if you have any more questions.

Thank you Jim

You just shed major light. That answers it all. Thanks so much I'll talk to you later.

I guess I will stick with the on board and just get a nice speaker system, like one of the Altec Lansing 5 peice gamers system.

I feel very honered to have a response from you, you guys are great.
