I'm sure this has been asked before but I searched and couldn't find it. Is there a setup switch to get Windows 98 to install it to the hard drive so it won't ask for the CD everytime I try to add a printer, or a network protocol or something? I tried using xcopy off a boot disk to copy all the files from the CD to the hard drive but it never copies all the files...

All you need (if I remember correctly) is the X:\WIN98 folder from the CD and copy to your HDD then run setup.

I've done this in the past and it worked.

Run setup from the folder you copied to the hard drive or from the CD..?

Same thing.
Just copy the x:\win98 to the HD (in DOS), and then run the setup.exe within that folder. That'll start Windows setup and install the OS.

That's if you're trying to do a new install of Windows.

Which you're not.

Copy the contents of the Win98 folder into C:\WINDOWS\Options\Cabs, and the first time it asks, point it to there. It will never ask you again :)

We always made a c:\Windows\Wincabs directory

then xcopy d:\Win98\*.* c:\Windows\Wincabs

then run setup like the guys above said :)
