I need to know the form factor this power supply(name) is, . is this an outdated power supply, is it still used in todays servers

here is the link to look at the picture

power sup pictures by ess818 - Photobucket
or

its a 840 watt
its a dual power 840 atx d84x-un2
pc power and cooling inc.

its the size of two normal power supplys in one unit, its big and tall, it came out of a ridiculously large case that I dont have anymore if I were to guess at the size its maybee 9" tall maybe 6 wide by7deep (only a guess)

If you can read the UL number on its label, you can use the UL listing chart at JonnyGuru to determine who is the manufacturer....maybe. (Some branders of power supplies have their own UL number despite not manufacturing anything, like PC Power and Cooling....PCP&C has its own UL number yet doesn't manufacture anything.)

Almost looks like a redundant setup using two ATX form factor power supplies.

I've seen something very similar running HP/Compaq ProLiant 4U sized servers from around the 2001'ish time frame.

That's what it looks like to me. It's very common place for the larger manufactures to build an enclosure for already enclosed power supplies. Take a few minutes to pull the screws off of the exterior and see if you find any labels/part numbers that you can turn up via google.

Your story of being banned sounds rather odd...

Its just a dual-PS2 or redundant PS2 PSU custom made for a particular vendor or OEM.

He derailed an existing thread there, had his post deleted and warned to not derail thread again, reposted his post and got a temp ban... I think that's what happened. *SHRUG* No biggie.

nester9, that PSU form factor is probably proprietary. Nothing to stop companies from not following "official" form factors (other than lost sales). For instance Antec makes their CP line of PSU that fits only a handful of Antec cases. Dell used to change the wiring order in their PSUs so you couldn't just toss in an off-the-shelf replacement or stuff fried (but they made the plugs EXACTLY the same - how nice!). HP uses some tiny connectors in their SFF systems that I'm not sure are standardized.
