Hi

I'm using a Gigabyte GA-60XET motherboard which is based on Intel's i815ep chipset. Within the BIOS of this mobo there's an option called "PC Health Status", and in it you see the status of the hardaware on the motherboard and also its temperature and all those options about the alarms. Three of these status indicators relate to the computer fans, the system fan, the power fan, and the processor fan. I have a pentium III 1GHZ processor, socket 370, and of course a fan or a"heatsink" comes with the processor. Now the problem is, I see the RPM "Rotation Per Minute" of the processor fan, but the power fan and the system fan have "0" RPM which it means that its not working. and this is untrue, as my case fan or the fan that exists with the power box in my computer is working properly.

So what does this mean?

P.S: I have two "3-pin" connectors on my MOBO and they have nothing connected to them no power supply, nothing.

Can any one help me with this problem?

Best Regards

Not sure about the "system" fan however if it's definitely working you should be OK. The Power supply (depending on which PS you have) should have a small cable that is meant to be plugged into the mobo. You'll have to look at the mobo manual for specifics. Look at where all the power cables are coming out of the PS and the little one might be mixed up in there somewhere. If not, I don't believe you'll have the ability to track the PS fan.

I'm not completely sure what exactly those two that are showing zeros stand for, but just ignore them. Open your case, check if all the fans are working while the computer is on, and forget about it. All that's important on your system is that the fan on top of the heatsink works. Anything else really doesn't matter in your case anyway.

BTW, those three RPM measurements are designated for fans that are plugged into the board (the way your heatsink fan is). If you have nothing plugged in them, they will show "0".

Nothing to worry about...

This is the same on my mobo, but that's because the power cable used to run the case fans aren't connected to the mobo, just a standard plug that works with a CD-ROM or HDD. If there were a place to plug in on the mobo for the case fan, the RPM would probably show up then.
