I spent $3400 on my new computer. I finally got all of the parts in. Everything is plugged in correctly as far as I know. CPU fan, PSU fan, case fans, 2x plugs for vid card, 24 ATX plug from PSU to mobo, 8-pin plug from PSU to CPU, Hard Drive SATA plugs to mobo and to PSU, IDE cable from mobo to media drive and power cord from PSU to media drive, PWR_Switch, HDD lights, Reset_Switch.

I do not believe that I screwed in the mobo screws too tight. Last night as I was screwing in the video card, there was a "pop," but I took it out and could see now damage.

The PSU light is on as is the light the CAT-5 cord is plugged in to.

I did not set any jumpers. I believe the IDE (media) drive and the 3 hard drives are all set to master. I cannot put the Vista Disc in to install the OS b/c the power doesn't stay on long enough for me to get the CD tray all the way out.

I press the power button and it starts up for approximately 2 seconds. The case fan lights and CPU fan light come on. Then it dies. Each time I press the power button it does the same thing.

Parts list: Asus P5N32-E SLI
Intel QX6700
XFX 8800 GTX
2gig Crucial Ballistix
Enermax Galaxy 1000watt
LG 16X DVD-R 52X CD-R
Vista Ultimate
2x WD Raptor 150gig
WD SE Caviar 320gig
Logitech MX510
Compaq USB keyboard (very old)
NEC 70GX2
SurgeMaster II surge protector rated at 330 volts (crappy, but all I have for now)

I am at my wits end. I know not what to do. Someone please offer any assistance or directions or anything constructive. I cannot handle any sarcastic or flippant comments please.

Reseat the CPU, check the motherboard screws again, unplug any hardware you don't need to start up. If its still happening unplug everything, memory, vid card, etc. except for the power supply and the motherboard, see if it starts up or does the same thing. If it starts up start plugging 1 thing back in at a time and trying to boot, if it fails after a certain piece of hardware then you know where the problem is.
