Hey guys, i'm gonna need some help with my pc! A couple days ago i wanted to swap video cards, so i just did the normal procedure of uninstalling the drivers on the current VGA, and then instead of restarting, i just simply powered down my pc. I then popped in my other card and attempted to turn on my pc. At this point my computer would keep freezing on the Windows Loading Screen and it just wouldn't boot up right. Just kept FREEZING! After 3 or 4 tries i ended up booting in safemode. That was successful, so i just installed the gfx card drivers for the new card.

Upon restarting i tried to load windows normally and again, it kept freezing on the windows loading screen. My first thoughts were that i may have SOMEHOW did something wrong when i was installing/uninstalling the drivers or that this card might be defective. I've installed and uninstalled drivers ALL the time, it's nothing, but i thought that might have been a cause, so my first idea was to get a driver cleaner and run that in safemode (since it was the only way to access anything at this point). I didnt have a driver cleaner on hand and i couldn't connect to the internet with safemode to download one. So i kinda just started to mess around a bit with some settings to check things here and there.

My next thing to do was to turn down my "hardware acceleration" hoping that would do something beneficial. After turnin that down to the last notch, i restarted the computer and this is where my monitor stopped responding. To my best knowledge the monitor was okay and it just acted as if it was in sleep mode, kinda like when the computer is off and the green light just blinks. Everytime i booted up the pc, it just wouldnt turn on, the green light kept blinking although everything else had power. My next idea was to check the harddrive because i thought that maybe after turning down the hardware accelerator, it may have caused a weird setting in the computer to make this kind of effect. So i took the harddrive and tested it on my older computer downstairs, which is a p3 800mhz. It recognized the HD but said there was somekind of Operating System Error, so i popped in my windows cd and reformatted the drive. After reformatting it was workin just fine. i put it back in my other system and i keep gettin the same problem.

The monitor stays off and i know that my computer was still freezing on the windows loading screen because my laser mouse never came on and i'm guessing that meant it didnt load windows. Also i would press caps lock and numlock on my KB to see if they were functioning or freezing. When i power my pc on they would work fine for about 5 or 6 seconds until it reaches the windows loading screen and freezes. So at this point the PC is still locking up and the monitor is in "standby" mode. I figured maybe there was something wrong with my video card, so i tested out this PCI card that i had and it did the same thing. My other 2 cards were an ATI9600xt and BFG6800GT OC. my motherboard doesnt have onboard video so i had to have a card plugged in to get a picture, but like i said i wasnt getting a picture :(. i ended up taking my whole computer apart and even taking the processor and baterry outta the mobo. after putting it back together and having tested 2 power supplies, 3 graphics cards, and 2 harddrives i was clueless as towhat could be the problem. i even tested a different monitor and it gave me the same BS!!!! someone plz help me with any ideas or anything u can pick up from what i've explained, i'll be more than happy to elaborate on anything just plz give me some ideas!! my last guess was that i might have hit or scratched something on the motherboard while i was removing the gfx cards back and forth and that might have caused the problem. so i was going to purchase another motherboard but if someone can give me a clue as to what it is , that would help much ! <3

EDIT: p4 2.6 HT VAIO with some garbage asus motherboard
512 ddr single channel ram
80GB WD harddrive

in about a week i'm currently goin to purchase new parts for a whole new system as i was planning, but i would also like to get this one back up and running, hopefully i just need a new motherboard or w/e =/
