To make a long story short, a friend of mines owns a Dell Dimension 2350 which was a total wreck.... Viruses, spyware, etc, etc.

After numerous problems trying to get it all cleaned up, I decided to just reboot WinXP. Reinstalled all software, etc, and everything seemed to be fine with the only exception being the screen size was way too big.

I went to display properties, settings, and could not change the screen resolution.... Called my buddy to make sure he sent all the software/driver disks (said he had) so I began poking around..... Now I am in no way a computer expert, but I knew there had to be a video driver missing somewhere (finally found it later) but not before I somehow completely turned the video card off in the advanced settings.

So, now when I start the computer, it goes through the WINXP home edition startup screen, then goes completely black.... For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get the display back (turn the card back on)..... PLEASE help!

Thanks SO MUCH!

You Probably need to boot in safe mode (F8). Remove any video drivers remove the card from the device manager and reboot. Hopefully windows will recognize the card and reinstall drivers

creedog,

YOU'RE A LIFESAVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so frantic searching for an answer, I completely forgot to try booting in safe mode.

Safe mode - Last Known Good Configuration worked like a charm!

Again, thank you SO much for your response!
