Hi, I have a system that I built about a month ago, and its been going pretty well until about 10 minutes ago..I was running 3dmark2k1 in contiunous looping for about 10 minutes, and i went to talk my brother and when i come back in the system just shut off, just like if you pulled the power plug out...now when i try to boot nothing happens at all. if I pull the power cord and put it back in the PS makes a click noise, and the mobo's led light turns on but my cpu fan doesnt start, my HD doesnt start, nothing. Now im not sure exactly why this is happening, im thinking its possibly a bad PS, because one of the problems ive been having with this system since ive built it is that it would freeze on boot, and generally not start up perfect until its been powered on for atleast 10 minutes...Does this sound like a power issue possibly? I mean, i built systems before and even had cases where a dead CPU would not prevent HD's/cpu fans powering on, and same with video card...

Heres my specs:

XP 2100 B @ 2.2 ghz, temps generally at 51-57C
Radeon 9500 pro @ 317/290
Santa Cruz sound card
512 266fsb ram
40gb HD
floppy
3 case fans
400W[Maximum] PS supply-generic

please give me some clues!

could be many many things, most common: memory not placed right, bad PS, burnt cpu, bad mb. This is really poor mistake though to use a messed up PS, you should get a decent one, otherwise you can cause serious demage to your system (if you havn't allready).

Yea but my system fans dont even power up fully, they only do it for a second or two, and from what ive heard, is that if even if you have a bad cpu, the fans will go on. So that eleiminates cpu right, cause its a bitch popping cpu's out of my case and it'd be nice to know. :)

NM, I got it workin, had to switch out PS's since the PS did die from 3dmark'n, what a POS. No matter tho, I still got a problem with BSOD'n when I boot up for the first 10 min or so..Any ideas on that, or what could most likely be the prob from this list of potential suspects: Mobo, Ram...Hard drive?

Thx for the help
