Bummer - If you can, remove the drive and format it on a desktop. You will need a laptop adapter.

Or if you have a floppy drive on the laptop, boot to a WinME boot disk to DOS and use the good old dos Format /Q command.

hi thanks for that i have a laptop adapter and will do that thanks

they are all legal copies

i managed to get it to format but it has been stuck on 100% for 2 hours

can you please help

thanks

If you're having trouble formatting the drive, there may be an issue with the drive hardware.

Are there any diagnostic programs from the laptop manufacturer can you run?

i managed to format it by connecting up to a pc using partition magic, which formats aswel but once back into laptop it freezes on format ( it sais i have to format )

is there any other way i can install xp onto it without it being on laptop?

please help asap

thanks

labtop, is that like the type of laptop they use in a lab or something? 🙂 lol, j/k

honestly I would try putting a different hard drive in there and formatting it to see what happens (if you have an extra hard drive available that is)

Sounds like there could be a problem with the hardware somewhere... possibly a fualty HDD or RAM? What was the need for a reinstall in the first place?

ill probably buy a new hard disk thanks

i can access the drive on a computer with the adapter so is there any way you can install windows like that?

please replya asap thanks

also does anyone know where to get cheap hard drives in the uk for?

thanks again
