Please help with XP

Hi, I recently tried to change my boot up screen to one from themexp.org , so I made a backup of my c:\windows\system32\ntsokrnl.exe file and overrode it with the new one. Now my pc will not boot XP, not even from the safe option. I logged in through the recovery mode from the CDROM, and copied the files from my dad's XP box, but it didn't work. Can anyone help me fix this? I really can't format and redo everything. Thanks!

Heh heh... bet that's the last time you do that!

XP ships with several kernels. The kernel that's chosed during setup is based on your motherboard's hardware and software interfaces. So the kernel on your dad's machine might not be the same on your machine.

I suggest booting to the XP CD and doing a repair.

You *should* be able to boot from cd and install ontop of your current install (as if you were doing an upgrade). That should lay the correct files back down.
