Hi guys,

I need some advice since this is will be the first computer I am building.

Here are the specs:
p4 3.0 prescott
ASUS p4p800 Deluxe
Corsair XMS pc3200 (2x512)
Samsung HD 120 gig
bfg 6800gt oc 256mb
Probably going to get a 420watt Enermax PSU
and also this Enermax Case:
http://www.maxpoint.com/produc..._pg/cs5171al/index.htm

I am planning on OC'ing the 6800 to Ultra speeds, and also going to be OC'ing using the mobo BIOS settings by 5%.

Q1: Will the 420 watt PSU from Enermax be enough?
Q2: Will the thermaltake XP-90 Heatsink with Arctic Silver 5 paste be good?
Q3: What 92mm fan for the heatsink should I get if I'm looking for good airflow (above 30 CFM) and also around 30 dbs?
Q4: Which 4 extra 80mm case fans should I get that push good air and aren't much above 25 dbs?

I've been looking around but there are so many fans......I would really appreciate any advice

Thanks

Andy

Q1: Definately enough for the 6800GT, not sure about Ultra though.
Q2: Yes.
Q3: I have Panaflo's 92mm M1 fan (35dba, 55 or so cfm). I like it, but its frequency is a bit higher than any of my other fans so it stands out. A lot. But it cools like a beast.
Q4: Dunno, I don't use 80mm fans sorry.

Why are you getting a pentium 4?

i know i probably sound like a diehard AMD fanboy, but i just buy/suggest what's best. I really don't see any reason to get a pentium 4, unless you do any type of encoding. Athlon 64's are cooler, faster, cheaper, and will run 64bit come when (or if-at m$'s current rate) the 64 bit OS's become available. I understand that pentium 4's aren't really much worse, i've done my homework, but they are slightly worse, and i see no reason to spend more for less.

sry about the rant :)

oh, adn about your questions ....
1)yes, if its got 22 or more amps on the 12v rail
2)yes
3)i don't know fans
4) ^

Cheesepoofs,

I realized my mistake after I already received my p4.... oh well. This rig should last me 3 yrs and by then, perhaps the 64 bit OS will be mainstream then. :(

Oh, well if you've already got the P4, then have fun with it. Its still a great processor and it should last you a long time .... especially if you overclock it.:D
