i bought a gigabyte 7dxc, socket a ddr ram motherboard. i've never messed with ddr ram. i bought a 128meg stick of pc2100 266mhz ram from compgeeks, now i'm having problems with the board- it sporadically powers up, most of the time it won't. i'm in the process of getting an rma for the board right now, thinking that's what it is, i have switched out all other components, but don't have another stick of ddr ram, not a lot of experience with it. just went to crucial.com, and their online configurator figured up pc1600 for that mobo. did i screw up? will the board not accept pc2100?

forget, i did some more reading on crucial, and the board and the chip just supports 100mhz fsb speeds, and the pc2100 is for 266.
live and learn....

but wait-
"You can install PC2100 in a system designed for PC1600. However, your computer will only run as fast as the slowest component installed. For this reason, if you have a 200MHz front side bus, you're probably better off purchasing PC1600 since PC2100 is more expensive and won't make your system any faster. The only exception to this rule is if you're planning to upgrade to a 266MHz front side bus later on. In this case, you could install PC2100 in your 200MHz system now and move the same memory to your 266MHz system later to avoid buying memory twice. "
