ave a 3200+ Venice and a A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. At the moment I've overclocked my cpu to a modest 2.2ghz. I would like to achieve an overclock of 2.4 - 2.6ghz, but what ever I try I can't seem to get up to that speed. I've got to 2.4ghz by dropping my ram to DR266 and it booted into windows xp, but as soon as I run a 3d app/game it crashes or reboots.

I've tried puting the htt to 4,3 and even 2x, I've upped the voltage on the cpu to 1.65 and on the ram to 3v, but no luck. I've put my memory down to dr333 and dr266 - not luck, I've tried 240x10, 240x9.5 and 240x9.0- no luck.

Please could someone tell me where I'm going wrong?

Many thanks,

Tel

What kinda of cooling do you have for your CPU and what temps are you seeing? Some Venices are better than others depending on what batch you got and luck. Mine is stable up to 2.5 with stock cpu voltage with an XP-90 cooler.

At the moment I using the stock HSF that the CPU came with.

My CPU Temps are 40 idle and around 50c underload.

Do you think better cooling will allow me to overclock 2.4ghz or above?

Many thanks,

Try 1.55Vcore and keep your temp around 55C under Prime95. You may only be able to hit 2.3GHz with some CPUs.

1. Try updating bios to 1011

2. Set memory to DDR333 with all other mem settings on Auto

3. Set DDR volts to 2.75-2.8, mem volts too high will cause instability also

4. Set HTT multi to 4x

5. Set vcore to 1.55
