Please help with overclocking + L6 bridge

I bridged my L1s and have my duron900 set at 10x, but wanted to push it a little harder, so I bridged one of the L6 leads that should have set the FID to 7, instead of 9. The machine wouldn't post.

I erased the pencil lead...the machine posted just fine. Must I do more than simply modify the L6 bridge to get my duron to post on my KT133A board?

Thanks....

If you want to modify the multiplier on the chip alone, then you must also change the L3 and L4 bridges. I don't know where people got the idea that all you have to do is change the L6 bridges. The L3 and L4 bridges have to be changed to correspond to the changed L6 bridges reguardless of the L1 bridge connections.

This page will help.

what board do you have?

adam your only partly right, many boards can have the multiplier lowered with just the L6 others wont post.
for example iwill kk266 you only need to change the L6, epox 8kta3 it wont post if all you do is L6.

I have the MSI K7T Turbo

man...if you also have to mod the L3 & L4, that's more than I'm willing to do...

not going to take a dremel to my chip...

one other thing i just looked at your "rig" page

it says you have some pc100 memory running. if thats still accurate that could be the problem, when you run the bus at 133 the pc100 might not let your system post.

depends on the chip you have !!!
MY 1.3 will post at 1.1 with the additional L6 connected allowing me to go into the bios and set as I please...no changes to the L3&4. ;)

It's true that motherboards with the option for BP_FID override only need the L6 bridges modified. A lot of motherboards that also have the BP_FID override also have multiplier adjustment control. If you plan to lower the multiplier and do not have that option, then the L6, L4 and L3 all need to be altered.

i have actually taken out the PC100 and tried 133 with just the mushkin 133 in there.

i'm 99% convinced it is a cpu / mobo combination problem
