Please Help with oc a Duron 800 with MSI Pro2-A

I have my duron 800@1000 (1.9v)
it is just 43 celcius when running RC5 and SETI

i can't get higher than 1000 even i tried to change the FSB

what should i do next to get more than 1gig

this is a week 40 Duron

Please help
 
i have connected the L7 bridges

the mobo give 0.05v more than the default voltage

i set it to 1.85v and that is why i can get 1.9v
 
heng1028, I wish I knew what too tell you, other than finding a better way to cool the core. Some cores just have a limit of 1000MHz. I have had Some 900 Tbirds that would not bust 1000.
It makes no sense when you see someone running a Duron 600 at 1100, once in a while. :Q
 
i found the temp from the sisoft is 69 celcius and the temp from the mobo software is 43 celcius

which should i trust or i shouldn trust them at all???

anyone know??
 
Dont trust Sandrasofts tempure! It sucks.

Im using the software that came with the motherboard and it seems pretty accurate.
My Duron 600 is running at 1GHZ. But Mine is setup like this:

1.8V
Multiplier - X9 = 900MHZ
FSB - 111 = 100MHZ
Total = 1GHZ
Temp - 38C Idle

I cant get it to do a cold boot ar X10 Multiplier. It runs cool and stable even. Ive ran it for 24 hours even. But if i try and do a Cold Boot it just beeps. I think Ill try to connect the L7 bride and see what happens and up the Voltage this week when I get a chance.

If I can get it stable at X10 and keep my FSB at 111 Ill beable to hit 1.1GHZ.
 
Actually, all Sockat A temperatures are inaccurate. You can't even compare setups with the same board simply because of ambient temps, and the location of the thermister on the Socket A board.

Touch the heatsink close to the CPU. If it burns you, you are running too hot. If it is kinda warm, you are OK. If it is ambient or less your chip is running fine.

i kinda felt the heatsink is a bit warm for me

i am using a chrome orb, i think that is why it is so warm
 
The Chrome Orb is an Ok HSF, but definitely not what you want to use if you go into the 900+ range. You should consider some better cooling.

However, at the same time, your temp readings do seem OK, and ny further OCing probably will not get you any better performance since the Duron has such a small cache.

Dexion Ive heard the same thing about the Socket A CPU's. Ive touched my heatsink on my FOP-32 and it isn't even warm!! 🙂

 
I'd worry more about having a high FSB than having 1GHz. If you can, try 110*9=990MHz.. That's a -hell- of a lot faster than 100*10=1GHz.
 
My MSI Pro2a will not POST over 116Mhz FSB. I can get it to go as high as 9*116MHz. Likely it is a chipset/mobo issue, as many of the controllers are set to do things at certain speeds, and your upping the FSB screws their timing up. Just my guess.

Now, a question still not answered 😉: how do I tell what week my duron is? I have every number off the chip copied down, but can't find how to dechiper it to get the date.
