I have an Xbox 1, modded. I used to have it hooked up to my high-def projector, but the bulb blew and I'm waiting on a replacement.

I've been trying to hookup the xbox to my older Sony Wega TV and haven't been having much success.

I have an xbox high def pack with component cables and opitcal out. I hooked the component cables up the the Wega (red, green, blue.. made sure they were right). When I start the xbox the blurb at the first looks fine, but once the dashboard or a game is loaded the picture is scrambled.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

The TV has component inputs, but it's not high def capable. Everything works fine if I hook it up with composite (but I don't want to do that, because I want to use the optical connection).

Could the xbox may be trying to ouput at a high def signal when the component cables are connected and it's scrambled because my TV doesn't support it?

TV is a Sony KV 32FS100

Go into the system setup in the Xbox and set the video to non-widescreen/16:9 and turn off output to 480p, 720p, and 1080i.

Wasn't there some setting in the dashboard for high def settings of some kind? (Although I guess you're SOL there since you can't get in) Have you tried hooking up just the RCA cables? (Should also have the RCA cables on the same component cable just hanging off of it)

Since I'm not familiar with the dashboard, does it override the standard Xbox setup?

Well I can get into the modded dashboard (unleashX) if I hook up the composite cables. But All the video settings are grayed out since I don't have the component cables hooked up.

The sh!tty thing is that I no longer have the original MS dashboard on here, just UnleashX

That's why I asked about the dashboard. I had the same problem when I moved my Xbox from my HDTV to a Standard Def. You would get the setup screen, but as soon as a movie or a game kicked in it was scrambled.

I was still able to get into the setup and turn off the HD resolutions and get it set to standard def with the non-modded setup.

It's an Xecuter 2, not sure on the bios.. one of the newer ones. What does holding in the white button on boot do?

Could somebody with the same media center OS as you count out the button pushes (up, up, down, down, ect) and walk you through the config that way?

I guess I could try it myself.. I can hook it up with composite cables and go through it, then try it blind.
