I just put together a 1.4 Ghz Athlon system with the 266 Mhz FSB. I am using the MSI-microstar motherboard with Micron/crucial memory. I have two sticks of 2256 DDR, totaling 512MB. I booted the computer up and everything worked fine, except the memory was not taking, accorind got the D-LED lights on the mobo. So i reinstalled it and it worked then. I loaded Win98 SE Plus. That works fine. Then I loaded all the drivers on the CD that came with the mobo. I then decided to change the BIOS setting fromt heir defaults. The mobo only have the processor running at 1050 Mhz and the bus speed at 200 Mhz. Is this typical for this to be set like this, or could I have a bad mobo? So, in the BIOs I changed the FSB from 100/200MHZ to 133/266Mhz, it then froze during the boot process when I saved and exited the BIOS. I tried resetting everything and it worked fine again, but everythime I changed it, it still froze, until the processor eventually got fried some how. I am sure it is dead b/c i tried it on a friends working system and it would not boot. So, I am getting the processor and memory replaced. Do you think my mobo is bad, or the processor was bad, or both? Or was I doing something wrong? Did I need to make any other adjuestments before changing the FSB? Thanks for your help

I have the same MB. First time I ran my system the FSB was at 200MHz too. What I did was just select "Load Optimized Defaults" in the BIOS menu. Solved the problem for me, try that.
