please help with dvd question.

YES, but many people used to use a cd-rom as their primary and the DVD only for movies, ripping, etc because DVD drives were more expensive. Less use means longer life.

Since DVD drives are cheap now it shouldn't matter IMO. I only use a DVD and CDRW in my sytem. Seems goofy to add a cd-rom when both read cd-rom's.

edit: ooops I meant No it is not a problem.

Thats my case. I sold my kenwood true-x last week and put in my old 8x and it now takes 10 times longer for my games to start and i don't want to use my old 4x burner as primary. Bout time for me to go ahead and order that dvd. Thanks for the info guys!
