PLEASE, Help with Debug Script and Sony Vaio, Formatting Error

Dear Group:

I really hope you can help me out. My bro has a Sony Vaio (old school) Z505sx (still nice though). We just ran the "Script Debug" (that Dell Provided) because he wanted to clean out his hard drive and then install WinXP.

When we reformatted the computer after the debug, it got "Stuck" temporarily at 22% and then an error came up saying that the computer "could not find system utilities" and then it asked us to stop formatting.

does sony have some proprietary crap on their Hard Drives and we shouldn't have Debugged it? Also, how can we restore it to original. I've been working on this for about 5 days straight and Sony won't help us because it's an older model.

ALSO, the Win 98SE Boot Disk does not give him CD Rom Support.

Thanks in Advance I hope, anything will help.

Jason

UPDATE: Would the debug get rid of any viruses that the computer may have had before. Because he did have a virus... and then debugged. ????????????????????????????????????
