Please help me with a stupid question. How do I get the CUBX to boot off of one of the ATA66 (IDE3 or IDE4)connectors? When I plug my HD into IDE3, BIOS can't find it. I checked to make sure that the UDMA66 controller chip is enabled. Is there anything else that I need to do?

you have to have ata66 enables in the bios, you have to go to the boot section and make sure that onboard controller (if forget exactly what it says) is set as one of the boot devices and be sure you are using the blue tipped ide cable.

let me know if this helps!

You may have to enable the HDDrive with the maker's software. Drives are usually set up as ATA/33 my the maker for max compatibility, I believe. Be sure you're using an 80 wire cable and that all HDD's on the cable are ATA/66 enabled. -

Go into the BIOS and look for a setting that says something like 'Boot sequence', this should be set to ATA/66 or possibly SCSI. (If ATA/66 isn't available.) If SCSI, there will probably be another option right beside it which specifies whether ATA/66 or SCSI should be used as SCSI. So just set that to ATA/66 and all should be well.

Thanks for you help. SCSI was the key here. Now another stupid question.....what's the difference between the Highpoint and CMD ultra66 drivers?

Thanks!

Having the same problem, drivers installed correctly, ata66 enabled, set to boot fron SCSI, nothing. The BIOS sees the drive, fdisk says partition is active, boots fine from ata33 connector, as soon as I move it to the ata66 connector, and reset BIOS to boot from SCSI, nothing.

From what I can tell I have everything right, yet it still doesnt work. Any more suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ninjakat, the CMD and Highpoint UDMA/66 controller chips are made by two different outfits. The drivers for them are NOT interchangeable.

Hey Klosters,

Thanks for responding. Which do I use? Both are on the CUBX driver CD and the instruction book doesn't say anything about which to use.

Thanks in advance!
