Hi,

I'm in the process of building this system up (arguably my first), and I'm not sure about some of the connections.

Just to confirm, the black wires on the system leads are the ground wires (and have the little arrow symbol)? (labels on the connectors all face upward)

Front USB: Does it connect to 'USB78', 'USB56', or 'USB910'? (and what is the difference?)

Front Audio: Do I remove the two jumpers on the 'FP_AUDIO' socket, and just plug the Sonata AUDIO lead into it, or do I have to plug in each individual lead?

3-pin fan signal connector (from the PSU): Should I plug this into the motherboard?

Thanks.

D.

Okay, I'm going to give this a try... Look at all of the leads coming from the case. See how they all (mostly) have one color in common? That's your ground. Some cases have it as black, some as white. In the manual for your mobo, it has where to connect these leads. Common (aka ground) connects to the "-" side.

Front USB can connect to any you like. USB78 is USB #7 & #8; USB56 = USB #5 & #6. Use whatever you like, or whatever makes your wiring the neatest.

Haven't the slightest as to what you are talking about on the audio. Never mess with it, so I'll let someone else get that one.

3-pin connector coming from the PSU is for RPM detection of the fan in the PSU. Connect that if you wish.

Front USB, just like fullmetal said, doesn't matter, you can use any of those

Front audio: yes, you remove the jumpers and plug in the audio lead.

LOL, I feel very blond. I never realized the 56, 78, and 910 were just numbering. I've put it in USB56, the middle one.

stevty2889: Are you sure about the audio? This is from the Sonata manual:

"There is an Intel standard 10-pin connector (with 7 individual wires with connectors) coming out
from the front panel speaker and microphone connection. If your motherboard supports Intel's
standard onboard audio connector, you can plug in the 10-pin connector directly onto the board.
For non-Intel standard audio connection, you need to plug the 7 individual connectors to the
motherboard."

Thanks guys. :)

You don't need to use the individual wires. The Sonata II case has an Intel Azalia compliant plug as does the pinout on the AN8-E. You will need to remove the jumpers on the mobo if you intend to use the front panel audio connections.

Sorry, one more thing ... what are those molex (1 x Male, 1 x Female, I think) connectors coming from the front used for?

Those are for hooking up the fans in the front of the case. The female from the PSU plugs into the male, and then you can use the female end to power something else (kinda like a passthrough kinda thing).

Actualy, it's for the blue LED's that are next to the front usb and audio ports. You plug one in to the female end from the power supply, and the male end is like a passtrough so you can plug it in to something else as well. I'm 100% sure about the audio thing too..I have 2 Sonata II's myself..
