PLease help with CD roms, are not booting or working!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i start up my cpu my cd rom drives are not recognized and in "my computer" there is only and a: and a c:. i'm pretty sure all the connections in the cpu are plugged in properly. one of the cd drives will open but is not recognized by cpu at all. i have a ghetto 52x cd rom and a hp cd-writer plus 8210i. if anybody could help i would greatly appreciate it.

Had the drives been recognized before and just suddenly stopped or is this a new computer you've built ?

ya, the drives worked before but my cpu froze and when i tried to restart it didn't boot up at all, or at least not properly (nothin came up on the screen, cpu had power but didn't make beep like it normally does right before it boots, and cd rom drives worked). i removed my video card and cleaned up one of the fans that was jammed with dust. i put it back in and booted it up, it started to boot but when it was checking for primary slave, secondary slave and all that it only recognized the hd and labeled everything else as "none". the hp cd-writer will open but isn't recognized by the cpu. the hp was the second cd rom installed on my cpu. thanks
