I have a bit of a puzzle on my hands, for some reason my security settings are very high. It seems that when I install programs I sometimes have problems running them, I have to manually go into the files and then right click on them, (mostly happens with .exe's and .dll's) select properties then select full control before they work. This happened out of the blue I cannot think of any settings i changed to make this happen, one day my DVD decoder worked fine, another day i needed to give full control to 1 .exe and 2 .dll's in its directory. I remedied that problem by right clicking on the c: drive and giving the entire drive full control in the security settings. Right now I am having problems downloading updates from Microsoft, the program downloads and when it starts to install i get an error message saying it could not complete. I know this is because the files by default now are not allowed to read and write (i cannot change them to full control since once they fail to install they just erase themselves.) I have tried everything i can think of. Lowering the security setting of I.E. to low as well as trying to allow full control to all users. Just to aviod confusion i am logged on as administrator when this happens. Well if anyone has any suggestions as to how to select what security setting files have when downloaded and installed please tell me i am in dire need of this information.
Thank you.
