Please Help WIN2K Mystery BSOD

When i boot up my computer, i consistently get a bsod about half way through bootup that says 'page fault in nonpaged area'. If i then reboot into safemode, then reboot back into normal mode it works fine. This is the only way ive found to get around it and although it works perfectly every time, i dont enjoy having to go through it every time i turn on my computer This problem only occurs on hard boots, not reboots. I recently installed a new ide controler (promise ultra133tx2) and hd (wd1000jb) about 2 or 3 weeks ago but this problem only started about 5 days ago. if anyone could help me or god forbid solve the problem i would be eternally grateful!
