Can someone explain to me the proper fan size for cpu fan. I'm having some high temp reading for my celeron 1.1a. So I'm thinking of getting rid of the retail heatsink/fan and get a new one. I'm thinking of getting either the SK6 or the AX7. I'm not sure which fan size I need for these. I see different size for them such as 80mm, 60mm, etc... How do I know which one will fit or not? Also I'm using a cpu slocket , does this make a difference on what heatsink and fan size I can use?

Also if anyone that is using the sk6 or the Ax7. It will be very helpful if you can tell me what fan you are using it with and how loud is it.

Thanks in advance!

The SK6 is designed for 60mm fans. The AX-7 is designed for 80mm fans.

How hot is your Celeron 1.1A running? How are you obtaining the readings? Do you have a high case temperature that might be contributing to the problem? This is not a super-hot-running CPU, it should not take special measures to cool it.

Here is my big question: Is the CPU running at stock voltage? Most slockets have jumpers that make it possible to change the voltage, so it could be that your slocket is set up to force the CPU to run at a higher voltage than what it's designed for, resulting in higher temperatures.

Heatsink/fan units mounted on a slocket stick out sideways toward the memory slots, so you don't want to buy a new heatsink until you've measured how much space you have to work with, plus at least a centimeter of breathing room for the fan. Not likely that an AX-7 would work there.

Thanks mechBgon, for the info on the Sk6 and Ax7!

According to Asus pc probe and MBM my cpu temp reading is 43-44 when idel,it goes up to around 50 when there is a heavy load on the cpu. Case temp is around 33c

The voltage on the cpu right now is 1.5v.
I'm thinking that maybe when I remove the thermal pad on the heatsink to apply ASII, I didnt do a good job with it. I know I clean the heatsink very well but maybe I should smooth it out more. I'll give it another shot and see what happen
