norton antivirus says i have a back door trojan virus. it infected explorer.exe and norton can not repair but can only quarantine it. i don't understand how i got this. i have a firewall and norton 2002 running on windows 2000. is there anyway to fix this issue? thanks.

Well you really have no choice but to quarantine or delete the infected file.

The next problem is to get a fresh copy of explorer.exe from the Win2K CD to the hard drive. Boot from the Win2K disc and use the recovery console to copy or expand explorer.exe from the CD to your \WINNT directory (or whatever the Windows directory is named in your installation).

explorer.exe is most likely located in the /I386 directory on the CD.
