I'm buying a Dell 600M and the incentive expires today. Please help me with a couple of questions.

The available displays are 14.1" @ 1024x768, and 14.1" @ 1400x1050. Is the 1400x1050 too small to see on a 14.1" display?

Also, the difference between 1-Year Mail-In Service only, and 2 Years of On-Site + Complete Care (dropping, spilling, electrical surge, etc) is almost $250...is it worth it do you think?

my personal choice would be the SXGA+. You can always choose a larger font, but could never go 1400x1050 with an XGA. The font does look very small (very sharp, though). I use 150% when writing in MS Word.

warranty-wise, it's a tough choice. My previous laptop (1 year warranty) has never broken down, but I'm also glad I have three years on my current thinkpad. $250 sounds a lot.

Thanks for replying.

I went with 1024x768 and 1 year full coverage for $100 more than the standard warranty. I went to CompUSA and saw a Sony 14" @ 1400x1050 and it was way too small. I couldn't work like that.
