Hello members...Just joined the forum and look forward to many more posts..anyway I need some help and bear with me as I "catch you up" to where im at right now.

Okay, I need a new video card and I am having a tough time deciding between the OEM radeon 8500 or probably the Gainward 128 G3 ti200. I would get the 8500 from mwave and the gainward from newegg
I have had a Diamond Viper II for the past 2 or so years and really need a new card due to the fact that my Viper cant play the majority of games out there now. I currrently have my old TNT in because I sold my Viper II the other day on half.com (did I think it would sell? No way).....anyway I really have to get this new card and I have a couple questions.. Let me mention as well that I JUST upgraded my system with a new mobo (8KHA+) and new CPU (1600+ and new ram 256DDR 2100) So im pretty starting over from my old 500mhz factory dell :)

1. Of course I want good gaming with the new card, my old Viper II wasnt cutting it. Which ever card I get I want to be hopefully blown away with how the games will look. Of course going from a Viper II to either one of these cards will probably do that. So I want to make sure that I have a card that ca take advantage of all the games features.

2. I also do a lot of video editing, mainly through firewire, not analogue. I also would probably use the tv out if it had one although its not completely neccessary.

3. I use my dvdrom currently so which card would be best for that (ive heard radeon)

4. So there it is..I need a card that delivers the max in gaming potential with my budget and also something that lieks dv editing..although I know that mainly depends on your cpu and ram, but just in case.

5. So which would you reccommend? Both are around $200 from what ive found. I could get the radeon 8500 250/250 and flash it up (I believe) to retail, but wouldnt have to with the geforce3 ti200 but then its still just a 200. So you can see how im confused...Need some help here

p.s. Some might say wait till the geforce4 comes out in Feb and then pick up a ti500 or something cheaper..but I doubt it wout go to around $100..who knows

Thanks :)

i say get a cheaper card like a radeon le overall

1.maybe 7500 or 8500 if you have the money

2.radeon ve has tv out same as the radeon le i believe

3.true radeons have gread dvd playback

4.same as 1

5.you can always overclock a radeon le to retail

thats just what i have to say or for more information go to ati.com and see what the specs are or to newegg.com for video cards that arent pricey
