My brother's home computer had an ordinary internal modem with a dial-up connection. He then went & got broadband cable internet w/ external cable modem & internal ethernet card. He left the old internal modem still inside the tower & connected to the phone line.

The broadband has been running great, but there's one problem: it turns out that he can't access his company's intranet via cableconnection. He needs to access their intranet for work related research [or spend endless extra hours actually at the office rather than working occasionally from home]. They gave him a 1-800 number to dial into the intranet from home, but now he can't figure out how to get the computer to do it.

He's running win98se [and AT&T cable]

Any ideas? I don't have broadband, so can't help.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Broadband and dialup can exists together. Install them each one of them.

Before usage start the Browser (I.E) pull down: Tools, Internet Options, click on the connection Tab, and choose between never Dial a connection for Broadband, or ?Always dial a connection? for the Modem.
