hi, i'm new here, I recently put together a system, but ever since i've been getting random shutdowns. The shutdowns whenever i put anytype of load on my system, like running prime95, or 3dmark.

here's my system specs.

DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2200 MHz (11 x 200) 4400+
Asus A8N-SLI Premium (bios v1008.3)
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache 128mb (cheap vid card, still savign up for a high end one)
Maxtor 6B250S0 (250 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA) (only 1 hd in entire system)
OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 2GB 2X1GB DDR400 CL2-3-2-5
Intel network card
M-audio sound card.
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108
OCZ 520w powerstream Powersupply

Nows here the problem. whenver i run prime95, during the 30min mark, the computer shutsdown, no bsods. My cpu temp is around 40C, GPU temp is around 34C. So it can't be a heat problem.

Now at first i thought maybe i should increase the cpu vcore to 1.35,(from the default setting of AUTO in bios ) but the shutdowns still occured. btw when i run CPUZ and i checked vcore it showed the cpu vcore at 1.34 when the bios setting is set at AUTO

So then I decided to reduce to cpu vcore to 1.325 in bios, and all of a sudden my shutdowns problem have dissapeared, and i can run prime95 for 2hours without my computer shutting down, i could run it longer, but i haven't yet. I have also ran memtest for about 4hrs and it showed no errors, so my memory seems fine.

Is it dangerous to undervolt your cpu??
I thought the default vcore for a 4400 is around 1.35-1.40 V.

Is my cpu faulty, since it can't run at higher voltages??

any input is appreciated. :)
