I have a little problem with my newly built computer and would like to see if anyone has the same problem as I am experiencing. Thanks in advanced.

My new system configuration:

Pentium 4 2.26 Ghz
Intel 845GEBV2 motherboard
Kingston 512 MB DDR PC 2700 Ram
Western Digital 80G 8mb buffer hard drive
Samsung 40X CDRW drive
Built in sound
Build in network card (intel)
Built in video

The system is in original configuration and it has never been overclocked. The problem is, it freezes up ocasionally when it is booting up when the intel logo (intel motherboard) is displayed. It will stay there until I restart it manually by pressing the reset button or turn it off completely and restart. Another problem is, it sometimes restart by itself when I am using it. It is really frustrating that it just restarts without any warning. I have checked the bios, which is in default. The fans are working properly. Also, I suspected it has something to do with the memory, so I swapped the memory to another slot. Still, the problems won't go away. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Almost forgot to mention, it has been like this since the first day the computer was built.

my instinct is a heat problem. check your temps in your bios and make sure they are safe.

second instinct = bad PSU

You can probably stop the auto reboots if its an os problem by turning that feature off in the system properties --> advanced --> startup and recovery. Uncheckmark the "automatic restart" under system failure.

If its a hardware issue, the best way to figure that out is to pull EVERYTHING that is nonessential to booting the computer and troubleshoot from there.
